Sparked sense of wonder

Parker's Pumpkin is a delightful read for children and adults alike. You follow Parker through his observations and shared care for the developing vine and pumpkin, and the relationships between him and this wonder of nature, his grandmother, and the larger community. I especially love the Pumpkin Facts section at the end, which provides snippets of info depicted beside vine tendrils, leading the reader(s) to more depth on pumpkin growing and usage (including a yummy recipe). The illustrations beautifully accompany the expressiveness and liveliness of the story as well.

My granddaughter will love this book!

Childhood is a great time to instill interest in the miracles of seed growth, and teaching vegetable gardening. Not only is this a neat and true story, it inspires interest in children, parents and grandparents. What a neat project and book for a grandparent to do with their "grand." Very readable, and cute illlustrations.

My two older boys ages 6 and 4 absolutely love this book. We just had friends over and a little boy said he loved pumpkins. Without hesitation my oldest boy said, “do I have the book for you! Dad can you read it to us again?” It’s a fan favorite in our house already!
