Some comments about the book from the Co-author / Publisher: I have always called Joey "my wise friend." Her wisdom has always amazed me. She would explain, "I was saved so late in life that I had to learn quickly." I think it is more than that. Joey is one of God's chosen vessels. You cannot be around her very long before you know the source of her help. "My help comes from the LORD" ~ Psalms 121:2a Joey is as excited and awestruck over Jesus today as she was 26 years ago in Hawaii, when she was born again at age 38. Joey's relationship is refreshing. It is inspiring. I often told Joey that she needed to write down those wise things that she says so spontaneously. Over the years, she would oblige me, and she would pound out some random thoughts on her old typewriter. It was never enough. I kept telling her, "Joey, you need to write a book!" One spring day in 1994, she took me up on it and said, "OK! When do we begin?" We asked Joey's daughter and a good friend to pray for us as Joey and I met every Wednesday morning. Joey articulated the issues of her heart. Each weekly dictation was almost an entity in itself. Chapter by chapter, her book came together. It has been my responsibility to transcribe her tapes and my notes; to organize, to highlight with Scripture and to edit; and to prepare the book for publication. My goal in producing this book has been to preserve Joey's style and portray her personality. Her relationship with God is as straightforward as her relationship with her friends Joey talks to God, and God talks to Joey. When she says, "God told me," that is exactly how it happens with her. As I compiled this book, I wanted the readers to feel like they just finished talking with my wise friend, Joey Duff. Anyone who knows her understands that she shoots from the hip. Joey says it like it is. Sometimes she would delete my editing, saying, "I don't use big words like that." You will grow to love my friend, dangling participles and all. She may not speak with literary polish, but Joey's words are a reflection of the time she has spent with Jesus. Working on this book with Joey has produced a desire on my part to press in to Jesus. It's like the old hymn says, "To see Thee more clearly, Love Thee more dearly, Follow Thee more nearly." As you enjoy Joey's unique relationship with her Lord, may you also be challenged to find a fresher, deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, our Savior. For every person who reads our book:
